Frequently Asked Questions

Your Account

What kind of an account should I create?

You can choose the account type when you are creating a new account on Pre.

Select preInvestor account if you will be an audience member during a pitch event.

Select Startup account if you are a startup and will be presenting at a pitch event.

What's the difference between a Startup account and a preInvestor account?

A startup account cannot receive money to invest in other startups. A startup account cannot Host an event on Pre.

A preInvestor account cannot join an event as a startup and cannot receive investments from other users.

Can I create two accounts?

Yes, you can. We realize that as an entrepreneur, you would need a Startup account when you are pitching at an event. And a preInvestor account when attending pitch events as an audience.

However, you will need a unique email for each account. You cannot use the same email to create another account.

Where is my confirmation email for my account registration?

After pressing the Register button at the bottom of the account setup page, you will be automatically sent a confirmation email.

If you do not receive a confirmation email, check your spam folder. Then, if you are still unable to locate it, resubmit your information making sure your email is typed correctly. Most often, a typo in the email address is the cause for this problem.

If this problem persists, contact us and we’ll help you out.

Audience Participation

How do I invest in startups at a event?

You will need the Event code to join the event as a preInvestor. Tap on the Join button on the Dashboard and enter the code at the prompt. If the code is valid, you will be taken to the investment screen where you can start investing the preMoney in the listed startups.

When do I receive event code?

You should expect to receive an event code at the pitch event you are attending.

Setting up an Event on Pre

How do I set up an event on Pre?

It takes just a couple of minutes to set up your event on Pre. Anyone with a preInvestor account can Host an event. Once the basic event is set up, you can customize the event to your liking.

Follow these steps to set up an event.

Startups

How do I sign up to pitch at an event that is using Pre?

You will need the 6-digit startup code that is associated with every pitch event set up on Pre. You will either receive it directly from the event organizer OR in some cases it may be on their event page.

On the Pre app, tap the Join button on the Dashboard, and type the code into the text box. A success message confirms you have successfully signed up for the event.

Can I make investments during an event I’m pitching at?
The short answer is NO. To ensure fairness for all participants at a Pre event, Startups are prevented from making investments. The event space is designed to see how well business ideas fare in front of critical perspectives. Skewing this information in your favor if you are a startup will negatively impact the simulation for all participants.
How do I access my messages?

To find messages you may have received from event participants, tap on the Messages icon in the bottom bar.

Here is located the history of your correspondences including Updates to your preInvestors. Make sure you keep an eye on this page during events so you can communicate directly with audience members and answer questions.

What should I include in my profile?
The information you put on your profile is important for keeping the audience connected with your startup. Create a bio describing what your product or business does, and choose a profile picture so audiences can easily identify who you are. Make sure you add appropriate links to your social media pages so the audience can easily follow you after the competition has ended.
